I have made some resolutions that I haven't broken or achieved yet. I drank some champagne. I counted backwards from ten. I came up with some annual puns. I'd like to suggest 20zen because 2009 was a horrible doozy for so many. But, by the same token, maybe we should make it 20gin.
I've tried to use my cheap verbal prowess to solve the now years-old riddle of what to call this past decade. 'The Oh-Oh's is not even worth making a joke out of because it will only be outdone this next year in the New York Post's headlines. I guess 'The Zeros' is an option but not exactly accurate. And I'm not British so saying 'The Naughts' makes me feel like I am trying too hard.
And then in looking up other's suggestions I realized something even more devastating:
HOW WILL WE MAKE SUNGLASSES OUT OF THE YEAR WITHOUT TWO ZEROS??
We have reached the end of an era.
